London has a wide range of shopping
locations to rival the best shopping cities in the world
- Paris and New York. There is such an amount of goods
available, it can be hard not to become overwhelmed.
First of all, I would like to talk about Knightsbridge.
This is the home of British Haute Couture and this is
the place to come if you are fashion conscious. It has
two of the most famous department stores in London -
Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Not only that, but it also
boasts other well known designer stores as well as
porcelain and couture stores that all items come at the
highest prices.
Next, I would like to mention Bond Street. IT was named
after Sir Thomas Bond, who was a major business man
during the seventeenth century. There are two parts, old
Bond Street and new Bond Street but despite it's name,
the new one actually dates as far back as the eighteenth
century. This shopping are is well known for designer
stores such as Versace and Prada and also Fahri.
You probably would have heard of Oxford Street! It is a
massively busy area of London and has one of the highest
concentrations of shops in the world, being able to
boast about its 200 million visitors per year! You will
find many of the high street stores here - Marks and
Spencer, John Lewis, and the great HMV record store.
Last but not least, we come to Regent Street. This is
where the most luxurious stores in the whole of London
are hidden. There is the world famous Liberty Store that
is set in a Tudor style building and also the great
Hamley's toy shop! You will also find a number of high
street stores within Regent Street, including Laura
Ashley, Next, French Connection and also more
international acclaimed stores such as Benetton and Zara.
All in all, London is renowned for being one of the best
places to go shopping in the whole of the UK and with
this wide range of major shopping areas, it is not
difficult to understand why! With the many restaurants
and cafes that are situated along these shopping areas,
not only can you shop until you drop, but you can rest
your feet afterwards as well!
