History of UAE

The History of UAE begins with the formation of United Arab Emirates by the
group of tribally structured Arabian Peninsula sheikhdoms located along the
southern coast of the Persian Gulf and the northwestern shores of Gulf of
Oman. History of UAE states that the country took to Islam in the 7th
century. The country was well-known for being home to several comrades of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad.

According to UAE history, several important parts of the country came under
the straight authority of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century. After that
the UAE region was widely known as the Pirate Coast. There is an interesting
story of giving such a name to the country. It is known that the pirates
based there hassled the shipping industry, though the area was regularly
patrolled by the European and Arab from the 17th century till 19th century.

After the treaty of 1892 UK began to back the country in several dangers. The
Britishers had set up a development cell in UAE which aided the country in
several projects. Looking at this the shaiks of the Emirates resolved then to
create a council to organize matters between them and slowly absorbed the
development office.

The sheikhs formulated the Trucial States Council and ordained Adi Bitar;
Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum's Legal Advisor as Secretary General and
Legal Advisor to the Council. History of UAE says that the Council was ceased
after the creation of United Arab Emirates .

In 1968, UK decided to end its treaty with the Trucial sheikhdoms along with
Qatar and Bahrain which were also under the protection of the Britishers. The
nine sheikhdoms tried to merge and form a new nation till 1971. But several
hurdles arose because of which the nine heads were not able to come to terms
with each other. Bahrain and Qatar became independent along with the seven
other Trucial sheikhdoms at the end of 1971.

The rulers of Abu Dhabi and Dubai decided to create a union between their two Emirates severally. They planned to prepare a constitution, and then invite
the Rulers of the other five emirates to a group meeting and propose them to
join their group. Both the rulers also agreed upon that they will write the
constitution jointly and finish it within 2 December 1971.

The historic day on December 2, 1971, saw the historic amalgamation of six
other emirates in the group at the Dubai Guest House Palace and formed UAE.
Ras al-Khaimah joined this federation in early 1972. The History of UAE is
very interesting and you will get to know about the rich past of the country
from it.
