Bangkok Beaches
|
|
Koh Samui |
Koh Samui is located in the Gulf of Thailand and has 2 neighbours;
Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Koh Samui is the biggest of the three
islands and offers everything for a perfect holiday. Chaweng Beach
is the busiest beach on the Island and offers the best nightlife
places. Other beaches are more quiet but just as nice.
|
|
Koh Phangan |
Home to the Full Moon party, once a month there are thousands of
people partying on the beach. You can get there easily from Samui by
taking a ferry.
|
|
Koh Tao |
If you prefer a more quiet setting Koh Tao is the place to go. This
is the smallest island (compared to Samui and Phangan) and has
beautiful beaches and offers excellent diving and snorkling
locations. It is often referred to as the "turtle island" because of
its shape somewhat resembling a turtle.
|
|
Koh Samet |
With a bus ride of only three hours Koh Samet is the closest island
to Bangkok. Book a ticket at Ekemai bus station that includes a
ferry to get to the island. Samet is a nice island as it is not yet
overcrowded by tourists, lots of Thai people go here for the weekend
or holidays. Again different beaches to choose from, Ao Vong Duan is
the most popular and thus crowded beach in the east of the island.
|
|
Koh Chang |
Island in the east of Thailand in Trat province, this is the second
largest island after Phuket and is part of a larger marine national
park.
|
|
Phuket |
Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and is surrounded by
smaller islands like Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta. Phuket draws the
most tourists and sometimes gets overcrowded. Damage from the
Tsunami has been restored.
|
|
Koh Phi Phi |
Koh Phi Phi, truly an island from paradise with a small strip of
beach linking two separate islands. Because it is just a small strip
of land it was completely destroyed by the tsunami in 2004. Most of
the damage has been restored by now however and tourists are
populating the island again.
|
|
Pattaya |
Pattaya is quite (in)famous for its prostitution and once you visit
you will know why. Take a walk down "walking street" at night and
visit one of the many many gogo bars for your entertainment. They
often try to get you in with cheap drinks so a Heineken for 50 bath
should be no problem here. If you're not into the gogo scene than
try the Irish pub in the middle of walking street, live music every
night and all your favourite beers.
|
|
Krabi |
Krabi is becoming more and more popular as a destination within
Thailand, not only for it's stunning wildlife but also because of
the recently opened airport with international arrival flights.
