Sapporo is the biggest city in Hokkaido. Sapporo is Japan's fifth
largest city. Unlike the major cities of
Honshu, which were built gradually over many years, Sapporo was
developed by design at the end of the nineteenth century, and it was
built based on a North American style rectangular street system. Sapporo
became world famous in 1972 when the Olympic Winter Games were held
there. Sapporo is a base for
holidaymakers to enjoy Hokkaido's natural beauty (ramen, beer) and the
annual snow festival held in February. The photo shows two symbols of
the city, Odori Park and Sapporo TV Tower. |
